To gain the best first-hand knowledge about physical therapy, students are encouraged to contact practicing physical therapists in the area and talk to them directly, or better yet, visit their facilities. If possible, arrange for volunteer or actual work experience in a physical therapy setting.

The American Physical Therapy Association provides, upon request, brochures which describe physical therapy practice and a list of accredited educational programs.
