Assistant/Associate Professor, Endodontics and Operative Dentistry (PIN 20510)

The University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Dentistry invites applications for a full-time faculty position in the Department of Endodontics and Operative Dentistry. This position will be at the Assistant/Associate Professor level and may be tenure track or clinical track. Rank will be commensurate with candidate's qualifications and experience. Responsibilities will include didactic and clinical instruction in the predoctoral programs and participation in the development of research protocol. Minimum requirements are a DDS/DMD degree from an accredited dental school and completion of training in an accredited postdoctoral operative program with a MS in Operative Dentistry. Must have previous teaching experience in a CODA accredited dental school and be eligible for licensure in Tennessee.

The University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Dentistry has a full-time, tenure-track faculty position available in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry and Community Oral Health. Responsibilities include didactic, preclinical and clinical instruction at both, predoctoral and graduate levels at dental care provision sites. Participation in research activities is expected. Candidates must have a DDS/DMD degree from an ADA accredited dental school and must have completed an accredited advanced specialty education program in pediatric dentistry. An advanced degree is desirable. ABPD eligibility is required and ABPD certification is desirable. Candidates must be eligible for licensure in Tennessee. Clinical experience in hospital dentistry and special patient dental care is desirable. Opportunities for intramural practice are available and encouraged. The University of Tennessee College of Dentistry invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position as Director of the Division of Community Oral Health in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry and Community Oral Health. The division is responsible for instruction in dental public health, behavioral science, literature evaluation, practice management, dental ethics and dental jurisprudence. The University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Dentistry invites applications for a full-time, tenure track position as Professor and Director of Research. This position will report to the Associate Dean for Research and will be an integral member of the team responsible for establishing the UTHSC College of Dentistry as a premier research institution in oral health. Responsibilities and duties of the position will include, but not limited to, the following:

  1. Undertake duties assigned by the Senior Executive Associate Dean for Research.
  2. Assist and support UT-COD Faculty, postdoctoral and predoctoral students to complete research projects.
  3. Promote UT-COD research at scientific conferences, meetings and in the public media.
  4. Submit grant applications to support industrial and federal research projects.
  5. Partially support salary through funded grants.
  6. Mentor M.S. / Ph.D. candidates.
  7. Continual publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
  8. Provide research training, lectures, tutorials, workshops and exams as part of educational programs.
  9. Seek opportunities for the involvement of dental students in research.
  10. Help in the creation of a biological research profile and supportive research environment.

Minimum qualification requirements are:

  1. Hold a Ph.D. (Additional D.D.S. or D.M.D. degree is desirable).
  2. Have completed postdoctoral research training.
  3. Have M.S. / Ph.D. student research mentoring experience.
  4. Managerial experience in directing research staff.
  5. Be well-published in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
  6. Member of professional dental research associations.
  7. Obtained extramural research support.
  8. Have experience of the grant submission process at the National Institutes of Health and other grant-awarding agencies.
