Welcome to the College of Graduate Health Sciences
Edward G. Schneider Ph.D., Interim Dean
Welcome to The University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC)
College of Graduate Health Sciences (CGHS). The College is the third
largest of the seven colleges in our dynamic Health Science Center
with respect to student enrollment and offers graduate instruction
leading to the Master of Science, Master of Dental Science, and
Doctor of Philosophy degrees in the programs of Biomedical Engineering
and Imaging, Dental Science, Epidemiology, Health Outcomes and Policy
Research (formerly Health Science Administration), Integrated Program
in Biomedical Sciences, Nursing, and Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Our newest program, Integrated Program in Biomedical Sciences,
combines the Interdisciplinary Program with the programs in Anatomy
and Neurobiology, Molecular Sciences, Pathology, Pharmacology, and
Physiology. Students who matriculate into this program are afforded
an opportunity to pursue specialized study in seven different areas
called tracks. Combined D.D.S./Ph.D., D.N.P./Ph.D., M.D./Ph.D.,
and Pharm.D./M.S. or Ph.D. curricula in the colleges of Dentistry,
Medicine, and Pharmacy are available for exceptionally qualified
students.
The principal aim of all seven of our graduate programs is to provide
specialized education beyond the baccalaureate level through advanced
study and research training that prepare our graduates for careers
in academia, industry, and government. Some of our graduates have
even developed their own biotech companies and are now CEOs.
The staff and faculty of the CGHS are eager to provide support
and guidance throughout your tenure at UTHSC in order for you to
become a graduate and be one of almost 1300 graduates from the College
in its history. Science is so exciting, and we want you to be caught
up in that enthusiasm of our staff and faculty as you train for
your future career.
Again, welcome to the CGHS at the Health Science Center.
