Admission Requirements

  1. Application Process
    Two parts:

    • Paper-packet component  …  Applicant collects all paper application materials, including transcripts, copies of licenses, etc., and sends all documents in one packet to

  2. Degree Requirement
    • Master’s Entry CNL: Bachelor’s degree or higher in a non-nursing field from a regionally accredited college or university (or approved international equivalent).
    • BSN – MSN CNL: Bachelor’s of Nursing Science (BSN) degree or higher from a regionally accredited college or university (or approved international equivalent) AND current RN licensure.
  3. Official Transcript
    • “Official” transcripts from every college/university you have attended must be collected by you
    • Official transcripts must be submitted to Enrollment Services as part of “Paper-packet component"
  4. Grade Point Average*
    • Only applicants with cumulative GPA ≥ 3.0 based on all collegiate work or cumulative GPA ≥ 3.2 earned during applicant’s most recently completed degree program will be considered for admission.
    • GPA calculation for most recently completed degree will be based only grades earned at degree-granting institution.
    • Applicants may submit additional documents to demonstrate professional scholarship and leadership abilities that could make them more competitive.
    • 3.0 cumulative or 3.2 on most recently completed degree
  5. Recommendation Forms (we prefer personal email addresses of references… we prefer that you do not use email addresses ending in .edu or .org)
    • Applicant must provide names and email addresses of three references
      Example: Johnsmith@yahoo.com or janedoe@hotmail.com
    • Recommendation Forms will be emailed to references when your application is submitted
    • References asked to complete and submit “Recommendation Forms” online to Enrollment Services
    • Two Rec Forms should be completed by faculty members who can address your academic ability.
    • One Rec Form should be completed by an employer or professional who can address your professional performance.
    • 3 Personal email addresses of references
  6. Certifications
    • Current RN licensure (For BSN Entry Only)
  7. Laptop Required & Essential Computer Skills
    • Must own a web-connected laptop
    • Computer/web-based literacy skills expected
  8. Professional Goals Essay
    • Please provide a 100-200 word response to each of the following questions:
      • How would you describe quality? Provide an example.
      • Describe a recent process that resulted in personal improvement and/or lifestyle change. (i.e. establishing an exercise routine, quitting smoking, achieving better grades, saving money, learning a second language)
      • Must be submitted online as part of “Web-based component” of application process
      • 3-5 pages (2-3 pages min.)
  9. If Native Tongue not English (minimum TOEFL scores required)
    • Evidence of English proficiency is mandatory part of application process
    • Official minimum TOEFL Score earned within two (2) years prior to application to College of Nursing
    • Official scores must be submitted as part of “Paper-packet component
    • Three versions of TOEFL: * Paper-based Test, ** Computer-based, *** Internet/web-based

  10. Other Important Criteria
    • On-campus interview required part of admission process
    • Individuals dismissed from other nursing programs are not eligible
    • Successful background check must be completed prior to enrollment
  11. If Not a U.S. Citizen …
    • Applicant must provide photocopy of immigration documentation showing “legal immigration status” (e.g., “Green Card”).
    • Copy of Immigration Status Doc.

ALL APPLICATION MATERIALS FOR ALL PROGRAMS MUST BE SUBMITTEDIN TWO PARTS: (1) ONLINE AND IN PACKET FORM and (2) ON OR BEFORE THE APPLICATION DEADLINE.

NOTE: APPLICANTS WHO MEET THE MINIMUM PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS ARE NOT GUARANTEED INTERVIEW OR ADMISSION.
