Clinical Nurse Leader

  • Master’s Entry CNL for non-nurse 2nd degree students is a 2-year full-time, face-to-face, on-campus academic professional entry program leading to a MSN degree.
    • No nursing background is required for application to the MSN CNL program. However, all applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited (or approved international equivalent) university.
  • BSN entry CNL for licensed RN’s with a BSN degree is a 33-credit full-time or part-time web-enhanced academic program leading to a MSN degree.
    • On-campus time is limited allowing full-time work schedule; clinical experience scheduled at employment facility as appropriate.
  • No thesis requirement.

Nurse Anesthesia

  • 30-month, face-to-face, on-campus academic experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in nursing plus specific nursing experience required.
  • Program is front loaded, meaning that focus is primarily on coursework during the first two semesters, thereby delaying clinical assignments until semesters three through five.  
  • No thesis requirement. 
  • Not available as a part-time program.

    Out-of-state applicants may be eligible for in-state tuition through the Academic Common Market. Academic Common Market is a program administered by the 13-state Southern Region Education Board which waives out-of-state tuition for students who qualify by attending an institution in another SREB state when a specialization of interest is not offered in their home state (e.g., MSN-CNL, DNP Forensic Nursing not offered in home state but available at UTHSC).
